Shakespeare’s Globe
A world-renowned
theatre and cultural
landmark
Ron Hester, a renowned woodcarver, created the original wood carvings for Shakespeare’s Globe. The carvings were made from oak and were installed in the theatre in 1997.
The Carvings
The carvings depict various scenes from Shakespeare’s plays, including the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet and the witches from Macbeth. The carvings are located on the balconies and the stage of the theatre, adding to the overall aesthetic of the Globe.
